Frequently Asked Questions

1

If I can get an AC or fridge installed by an electrician, why do I need special treatment for EV chargers?

tick

EV chargers, especially higher-capacity models, require proper grounding, load balancing, surge protection, and in some cases, phase alignment. Unlike home appliances, they interface directly with sensitive vehicle systems. A poor installation can damage the car's onboard charger or even pose safety risks. That's why certified and experienced installation is essential.

2

Does every charger work with all electric cars?

tick

Most modern EVs use the Type 2 connector for AC charging and CCS2 for DC charging. However, imported German and Japanese vehicles (like Nissan Leaf or BMW i7) often use Type 1 or CHAdeMO connectors, which are different. Compatibility depends on both the car and the charger type, and we'll guide you in selecting the right one by auditing your internal wiring and switch-gears.

3

What steps do you follow to install a charger?

tick

Our standard process includes:

  • Site assessment (in person or remote)
  • Power and load analysis
  • Charger selection and confirmation
  • Installation with safety compliance
  • Testing and commissioning
  • Handover with basic user training

We also provide long-term support and warranty coverage.

4

What is the difference between Japanese and European import vehicles?

tick

The key difference lies in charging ports and onboard charger types.

  • Japanese EVs often use Type 1 AC and CHAdeMO DC connectors.
  • European EVs use Type 2 AC and CCS2 DC connectors.

European imports are typically more future-proof and compatible with chargers used globally, while Japanese EVs may require adapters or dedicated units.

5

Can I charge my EV in the rain?

tick

Yes, you can safely charge your EV in the rain. Charging guns are sealed, and all chargers we install are IP-rated for outdoor use, ensuring safe operation even in wet conditions.

However, while charging is safe during rain, we do not recommend leaving the charger permanently exposed to rain or harsh weather. For long-term reliability, we advise installing the charger in a sheltered or protected location. Your car can be charged safely even if it is directly under rain — just make sure the charger is properly mounted and maintained.

6

How long does it take to charge my EV?

tick

It depends on three things:

  • Your car's onboard charger capacity
  • The power output of the charger (e.g. 7 kW, 11 kW, 22 kW, or DC fast charger)
  • Your car's battery size

For example:

  • A 7 kW charger may take 8-10 hours for a full charge.
  • A 22 kW charger may take 3-4 hours (if the car supports it).
  • A DC fast charger can charge up to 80% in 30-45 minutes.
